Heya all! So a lot of talk has been going back and forth about a Ventrilo server. I have a friend who owns a 50man server, and I believe he is going to have no issue at all with us using it. However I am currently in the middle of finding out if this is ok.

If he says yes you will all be able to join! If anyone sends a private message asking who you are just say you know "DocDizzy" or "Doc." Everything will be, well Cheeky. lol

I still plan on reactivating a 75 man server its just that money is tight at the moment so I am unable. $144USD for a 50man server for one year.

Personally I won't pay for any other hosting company aside from typefrag.


Also for those of you that are EU or outside the US. Google is currently doing a thing where they are going to give close to 50k residents fiber optic internet. They have not released the price, but its suposed to be next to nothing if not free. The town I live in has a very very high chance of being one of the towns chosen.

If this is the case, I will then have the bandwith to stream constant upload and download rates able to substain a Vent server. I already have an FTP server out of my house, but feel Vent would probably just lag my whole net. So we will see what happens!

Either way I will repost under this thread (topic) the vent info if my friend don't mind us using his.
Either way we will see if people actually use it or not and then determine from there on if a server should be purchased.

That sounds great. Though we don't really need a 50 man server lol. I doubt there will be more than 3 people on at any given time. Most people are shytastic, as they were in pain ^~^

They normally won't have over 30 people in at once. Its a 50man server. He said we are welcome.

Try to stay in any of the rooms under the bullet (Other Fat Status). If they ask who you are just say I know Doc, or Dizzy. ^.^ They will prob bullshit with you some, at times. JerryO is the owner of the LS. Thorne is the leader of the guild. Bbuck is my hommie of hommie's. He is a smoker like me, same age and crazy kewl. He has been a Network Admin for like the past 6 years for some major company.

Either way I think you guys will have no problems. They are all super nice. I will post the Ventrilo info now. I am also going to post some additional information to help you set it up if you never have before.

Some good trick to know with vent. First you always want it to be push to talk. I normally use ALT, but cant do that in XIV, find a key that works.

Now the trick. This will make everyones voice at the equal level of sound. So you wont have some people super quiet, and the next person yelling (because of input & output device. ^.^ I always turn my output up, input down. lol)


Here is how to make everyones voice the at the same level.


- Go to Setup

- Enable Direct Sound

- Select the SFX Button

- Select Compressor and click Add.

- Under Compressor Properties use the following settings

- Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)

- Attack = 0.01

- Release = Around 500

- Threshold = Around -30

- Ratio = 100

- Pre delay = 4.0
